LANGLEY/ALDERGROVE – The Province is contributing $10,500 to support two upcoming Fraser Valley sporting events. Funding is coming from the Hosting BC program, and will ensure the 2012 BC Soccer Boys Provincial Championships as well as the 2012 Gymnastics Canada Cup are a success.

The 2012 BC Soccer Boys Provincial Championships are put on by the Aldergrove Youth Soccer Club. They will receive $3,000 for their event, which will take place at the Aldergrove Athletic Park from July 5-8.
- The 2012 Canada Cup is put on by Gymnastics BC. They will receive $7,500 for their event, which will take place at the Langley Event Centre from July 12-15.
- Hosting BC funds competitive level events that support long-term athlete development plans for B.C.’s Provincial Sport Organizations.
- Originally established in the lead-up to the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, Hosting BC is now funded through the Province of British Columbia and managed by the BC Games Society.
- Since 2004, close to $3.7 million in Hosting BC funding has been awarded to support 462 events in more than 45 communities across the province. In 2010-2011, more than 100 events were funded in more than 30 communities.
